Frequently asked questions
How do I use this for a tutoring center with several tutors?
Run it once per tutor with that tutor's bookable hours and rate, then add the results. If tutors share rooms, the smaller of room capacity and tutor capacity is your real ceiling.
What fill rate should I use?
There is no universal number. Look at your last few months: divide sessions actually delivered by slots you offered. New tutors should expect a lower figure while they build a roster.
Why does a small buffer change the result so much?
Because the buffer is added to every session. Fifteen minutes on a 45 minute session takes a third more calendar time than the session itself, which removes several slots from a busy week.
Can I use this to decide whether to add a second tutor?
Yes. If your expected filled sessions already sit near the maximum and you keep turning families away, run the planner with the new tutor's hours to see how many sessions and students they would add.
